NFL Week 2 Synopsis
For those who don’t bleed green, the Philadelphia Eagles overhauled their whole coaching staff in the off-season. The organization has cleaned the house, hiring Nick Sirianni as the head coach, and pairing him with Jonathan Gannon. Philadelphia has started their season 1-1.
In their opening game, the Eagles dominantly defeated the Falcons; racking up their first 30-plus point game in over a year. With Jalen Hurts at the helm of the quarterback position, fans felt the electricity that fueled the offense.
It was a great start to the season, which made fans believe that the momentum was going to carry over in their home-opener against San Francisco. Even though the Eagles lost Brandon Brooks and Brandon Graham to the injured reserve, the defense was fighting for the fans. Although the defense was engaged in a tight battle, the offense could not get the ball rolling.
The offensive line played a factor in the loss, accounting for a rise in the rate of pressures that Hurts had seen in the game. It goes without mentioning that the rushing attack from the Eagles was lackluster, seeing a subpar performance from their star running back, Miles Sanders. Although the second-string running back, Kenneth Gainwell, was a nice change of pace for the offense, it was minimal because of San Francisco’s elite rush defense.
Philadelphia fought for its fans but fell short for many reasons. Sirianni and Gannon both apologized to the fans; as they knew what it meant for the city of brotherly love. The Eagles are traveling to Dallas tonight to take on the Cowboys in a primetime, divisional match-up. If the Eagles can get pressure on Dak Prescott, it will be a one-possession game.
