The NFL Has Never Seen Anyone Like Lamar Jackson 11/2019
Bleacher Report Response to: āThe NFL Has Never Seen Anyone Like Lamar Jacksonāand He's Unstoppableā
#Lamar Jackson is a generational player. John Harbaugh is an elite NFL coach. See what I did there? A player is only as good as the system that they are playing in.
I'm blessed to say I've watched Lamar Jackson in High School. The man was a sophomore at Boynton Beach, running around all of Palm Beach Gardens defenders like he was in college. When I played for Jupiter High School, I was playing in the game after him; and when I tell you that his name had to be called out more than 100 times when we were warming up, that is no exaggeration. I hope for nothing but the best for him because his story stands tall through his short time as the NFL MVP front runner (read about his struggles and tell me you are rooting against him- that will probably not happen).
Let me make this apparent to all the readers- a quarterback (or any position) is, and will always be, as good as the knowledge of the coaching staff. Once again, he's a generational talent, but if he was drafted by #Cincinnati, would there be the same results? Would there even be similar results? I've seen players self-destruct just because of the system they've played in. It's actually quite sad. Those #NFL draft ābustsā- are all of them really wasted talents?
As I've come to the grips of the game of football, I've learned over many years that if you play in the NFL, you have accomplished what a majority of high school players dreamed of their whole lives. I read that .002% of high school athletes end up practicing with an NFL team. To be another generational talent like #Baker Mayfield, how do we know that he wouldn't be doing what Lamar is doing in Baltimore IF he was drafted there instead? Or #Kyler?
Bottom line- if you get the chance to play in the NFL, you have already won, regardless of what the people say. All props to Lamar Jackson, you inspire me and my family to make every day count. You are the real #American Dream.
